Disney’s Blizzard Beach, Vista, Florida

When you think of Disney World, the first thought that may come to mind is Mickey and the Disney Gang, Epcot Place, Walt Disney World theme park; well, there is also the number two rated water park located here, Blizzard Beach.

There are in total three water parks inside the Walt Disney World theme park. There is a “legend” that is attached to Blizzard Beach where a freak winter storm blanketed the Disney area with snow, forming the first ski resort in Florida. When the temperatures began to return to normal, so too did the area where the snow turned to a slippery slush; the once formed slalom courses, toboggan and bobsled runs then turned into downhill waterslides which started carrying swimmers instead of skiers. What was once the ski jump turned into the tallest, fastest waterslide in the nation.

Some of the greatest attractions include:

- Race your opponent down two parallel flumes to see who arrives first on the Downhill Double Dipper inner-tube big thrills ride
- The Slush Gusher is perfect for those wanting fast speed big thrill slide action
- Want to take a mild but wild thrill with the entire family? Climb aboard one of the world’s longest family raft rides, Teamboat Springs, that will have you twisting and curving down the mountain
- Looking for a lazy inner tube ride will allow you to unwind and flow casually down the river that circles the entire park on the Cross Country Creek
- Not to worry, the kids will enjoy themselves in Tike’s Peak that has many thrills built for the little ones including small scale slides, pop jets and a fountain play area.

For those who are looking for the ultimate thrill ride and who are not afraid of heights look no further than the Summit Plummet! This is the tallest water slide in America with a challenge-daring 120 feet where those who are not faint at heart will plunge 55 mph in a straight down into a heated pool at the base of the mountain.

Blizzard Beach park is open all year round and in the fall is open between 10 am ad 5 pm and prices range from one day tickets to annual passes. For those aged 10 and up tickets for one day are $39 and for those aged 3 to 9 a one day ticket will be $33. If you are a resident of Florida or plan to spend a great deal of time at the park, look at purchasing an annual pass. Annual passes for those aged 10 and up, an annual pass is $99.95 and those aged 3 to 9, an annual pass is $80.50.
